Rainbow Honey embarks on a mission to educate the public on the American cosmetic industry

RAHWAY, N.J.Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Rainbow Honey Cosmetics, a new and independent brand that designs and produces its own nail polishes in the United States, has embarked on a mission: Educate the public about dangerous chemicals in many mainstream American nail lacquers.

Why is this important? People are clueless to what's in the nail polishes they wear. "Several of the largest nail polish manufacturers in the world continue to include the big 3 chemicals in their nail polish formulas and we believe the public should carefully assess this prior to buying any of these products," says Dee, founder and Chief Designer for Rainbow Honey. "Everywhere I go I see so many children wearing brightly colored polishes on their fingers and toes. Parents are unaware of the volatile toxins their children are coming in contact with," she adds.
Rainbow Honey nail lacquer is different, Pamela Hoffman, DPM, explains: "It does not contain dangerous chemicals or what has been referred to as the toxic trio: Formaldehyde, Toluene and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). These are three very bad substances. In fact, DBP is banned in the European Union, and Formaldehyde and Toluene are strictly limited," she says. "The cosmetic industry is not regulated in the US as it is in Europe. The toxic trio are linked to developmental problems, asthma, damaged organs and cancer. No parent would knowingly allow a harmful chemical on or near their child or themselves."
With this in mind, and with a nail lacquer 100% free of the "toxic trio", Rainbow Honey has taken the position to educate the public on these dangerous chemicals while offering a safe (and beautiful) alternative.
"The best part about Rainbow Honey is that without the toxic trio the polish actually dries faster, does not discolor your nails and lasts longer. And, they have some amazing swatches!"- Dr. Hoffman
Rainbow Honey has committed to an ongoing effort to disseminate information, write articles, fund research and work with experts in the field to develop communication tools to increase awareness.
"The American public needs to know more about what is being put in its nail polishes, and when they do, we'll be able to put pressure on larger manufacturers to do what's right for the consumers," Dee concludes.
About Rainbow Honey
Rainbow Honey Cosmetics, an independent nail lacquer manufacturer, was born out of a love for color and a penchant for creativity. To create Rainbow Honey, Dee, its founder and Chief Designer, brought together her background in the sciences and her experience in the fashion industry, resulting in unique, colorful and custom blended nail lacquers. Its products are designed and made in the United States of America, are always free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Dibutyl Phthalate (the "big 3"), and with ingredients that are never tested on animals.
The Rainbow Honey brand has already received rave reviews from customers all over the U.S. as well as CanadaAustraliaSingapore, U.K., France, and continues to reach new audiences every day.

The Yokai Collection

The Limited Edition Yokai Collection - inspired by some of my favorite mythical creatures - releases tomorrow, October 13th. They'll go live at 12:01 AM EST for you night owls!

"Kawako" is our interpretation of the Kappa, depicted as everything from a water sprite to a river demon. Erring on the gentler side, "Kawako" is full of gorgeous silver and ice blue shimmer, with the occasional iridescent blue flake.

"Kawako really grew on me. I liked it when I first put it on, but absolutely loved it by the time I took it off nearly three days later." -Chelsea @ Nailed Blog
"I am head over heels for this polish! It is hard for me to find many deep blue polishes that I like very well but this is absolutely gorgeous." -Marci @ Marci's Nails
"...If you love and crave Starry Starry Night, this might just fill that lemming." -Pointless Cafe

"Kitsune" can refer to your ordinary red fox, but our "Kitsune" is a glorious nine-tailed creature: fiery, wise, and absolutely gorgeous. In a cream base full of gold shimmer and flecks you will find an array of glitter in a bonfire palette, ready to spark a fire in your heart.
"It's like fall in a bottle!  I LOVE it!" -The Lacquerologist
"SO SUPER STUNNING... It glided onto my nails, as well. It needed only 2 coats, and it is indeed magical!" -Taneja @ Taneja's Bride
" It's definitely one of the most unique polishes I've worn in recent memory. I really, really love this one!" -Chelsea @ Nailed
Let's be honest, Oni are generally depicted as wicked and hideous. Our "Oni" may be wicked and supernatural, but with its myriad of glass flecks and multi-chromatic shimmer it is hard to call it hideous. In fact, the consensus seems to be that it is one of the most beautiful and intense polishes out there this fall!
"UGH I love it. It is PERFECT for fall." -Nat @ No Holos!
"Oni is fabulous... I love the fact that it is a two-coater." -Sparkly Vernis
"THIS ONE. THIIIIIS ONEEEE. This is one of the most beautiful, indescribable nail lacquers I've seen in a LONG time." -V @ Beauty Out Loud
You can click on any of the blog names to view their full reviews and swatches - look for a full round-up sometime this weekend! So, which do you like? Will you be picking any up this weekend?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The American Cancer Society estimates that more than 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. This number is alarming, but there is good news: when diagnosed early this disease has a high recovery rate.

While there are still many things to learn about breast cancer to improve treatments and outcomes, the best tool we have to fight against breast cancer continues to be prevention and early detection. Early detection involves regular screenings, checkups, mammograms, tactile exams, and follow ups.

Today, many organizations are united together fighting against breast cancer and Rainbow Honey is pleased to announce that we, too, are joining the fight!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we have prepared several events and activities to help us increase awareness about breast cancer, and promote preventive care and early detection - we are thrilled to be part of this cause as it is very close to our hearts, and we hope you can join us as well.

During the month of October, for every full size Rainbow Honey Pink Product, Rainbow Honey will donate $1 on your behalf to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Every bottle of Pink Product nail lacquer you purchase from us will help support researchers finding a cure!

In addition, along with your order, you’ll receive an AWARENESS wristband so you can join us in the fight!

With your order of Pink Products you'll receive an AWARENESS bracelet (while supplies last)

Rainbow Honey Pink Products include:
  1. Pinkie Promise - Equestria Collection
  2. A Little Kindness - Equestria Collection
  3. Unstealable Jewel -  Chrono Cross Collection
  4. Ephemeral - Sakura Matsuri Collection
  5. Hanami - Sakura Matsuri Collection
  6. Sakura Matsuri Namesake - Sakura Matsuri Collection

What can you do?
  1. Spread the word: Protection is Detection. And early detection means better outcomes
    1. Post on your Facebook wall, send a tweet, drop a text, or write an email - Let your friends and family know what we are doing!
  2. Host an event, tell us about it and we’ll supply you with wristbands and stickers to help you increase AWARENESS (while supplies last)
  3. Do you have any other ideas? Share them with us on our Facebook page!

We are in this together and together we can reach more people and make them AWARE! And with AWARENESS comes a responsibility to ACT!
