RAHWAY, N.J.,
Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ --
Rainbow Honey Cosmetics, a new and independent brand that designs and produces its own nail polishes in
the United States, has embarked on a mission: Educate the public about dangerous chemicals in many mainstream American nail lacquers.
Why is this important? People are clueless to what's in the nail polishes they wear. "Several of the largest nail polish manufacturers in the world continue to include the big 3 chemicals in their nail polish formulas and we believe the public should carefully assess this prior to buying any of these products," says Dee, founder and Chief Designer for Rainbow Honey. "Everywhere I go I see so many children wearing brightly colored polishes on their fingers and toes. Parents are unaware of the volatile toxins their children are coming in contact with," she adds.
Rainbow Honey nail lacquer is different, Pamela Hoffman, DPM, explains: "It does not contain dangerous chemicals or what has been referred to as the toxic trio: Formaldehyde, Toluene and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). These are three very bad substances. In fact, DBP is banned in the European Union, and Formaldehyde and Toluene are strictly limited," she says. "The cosmetic industry is not regulated in the US as it is in Europe. The toxic trio are linked to developmental problems, asthma, damaged organs and cancer. No parent would knowingly allow a harmful chemical on or near their child or themselves."
With this in mind, and with a nail lacquer 100% free of the "toxic trio", Rainbow Honey has taken the position to educate the public on these dangerous chemicals while offering a safe (and beautiful) alternative.
"The best part about Rainbow Honey is that without the toxic trio the polish actually dries faster, does not discolor your nails and lasts longer. And, they have some amazing swatches!"- Dr. Hoffman
Rainbow Honey has committed to an ongoing effort to disseminate information, write articles, fund research and work with experts in the field to develop communication tools to increase awareness.
"The American public needs to know more about what is being put in its nail polishes, and when they do, we'll be able to put pressure on larger manufacturers to do what's right for the consumers," Dee concludes.
